INSTALLATION AND USER MANAGEMENT GUIDE

SketchUp Studio (Education)

This installation guide gives you an outline to understand the cloud based license management system of SketchUp Studio (Education). Using this Installation and User Management Guide you can add product user/s, assign SketchUp license, download applications, launch cloud services, set different role to user etc.

 

This Installation Guide is useful to –

  • Colleges/Institutes/Universities

After installation of the product, user can access the product by sign-in with Trimble Account email and password.

License activation communication from Trimble

After purchasing the SketchUp Studio License, you will receive an email (on your registered email ID, which was provided by you while purchasing the SketchUp license) from Trimble (donotreply@trimble.com) with subject line Start using your product today!

Click on Manage Your Account button.

This is to sign-in or create your Trimble Account for SketchUp License you have purchased. You can manage your licenses using Trimble Account with the  admin panel.

Sign-in to Trimble Account

You can also sign-in your Trimble Account using https://sketchup.com/

Sign-in with your registered email ID – Use the email ID provided by you at the time of placing the order of SketchUp. This is your registered email ID.

If you are a new user and don’t have Trimble Account then it will ask you to create new account after pressing Next button.

Note: If you already have a Trimble Account then after entering the password you will access the Trimble Account.

Creating Trimble ID / Trimble Account

If you are a new user then it will ask you to create new account. Give all information which was provided by you at the time of placing the order of SketchUp.

Press Send Code button to verify.

You will receive email to your registered email ID from no-reply@account.trimble.com with subject line – Your Trimble Identity Verification Code

Copy the Code

Note: Please check your spam folder, if you don’t find the email.

Enter the Verification Code and press Submit button to verify.

After successful varification it will ask you to set password.

Note: Keep your Password securely saved for future access.

Check / Set Preferences and press Submit button.

You will see following message –

Your account has been created successfully!

You will receive an email from no-reply@account.trimble.com with the subject line –

Your Trimble Identity has been Created

Now your Trimble Account has been successfully created. Sign-in the Trimble Account using Username and Password.

Accessing Trimble Account

After Sign-in the Trimble Account you might see the multiple accounts (if any) which was created by you using same email id.

Choose the Trimble Account mentioned Purchased via { name of the reseller }

After selecting the correct account (if you have multiple accounts), you will see three tabs –

  1. My Products – In this tab you will get all assigned products to you. You can download products from here.
  2. Members – Here you can manage the members. Add, delete the members and assign/revoke product.
  3. Plan Settings –  SketchUp Studio is an annual termed base licenses, you can see the expiration date, plan, number of seats, included applications etc. of your purchased licenses here.

As an Admin, you can manage the Users (using Members section) or you can see Assigned Products to you (in the My Product section).

It is necessary to Add User first and then assign product to the User. Right now you haven’t assigned any member to use the license therefore first goto Members tab.

Note: Even if you are Student or Instructor, having single license, you should add “you” as a “Product User” using Members section first. Otherwise you will not see any product assigned to you (i.e. to your email ID).

Adding New User

Go to Add New User

Give email ID of User.

If you have student or instructor license i.e. You have only one license. You can add your same email id as a user to access the products.

Add the user details

  • Add First Name and Last Name
  • Keep Role as Product User if user is a student or instructor
  • You can also assign Product to user here.

Assigning Role to User / Member

As admin/account owner, you can assign User Role. You can assign –

  • Product User Role
  • Company Admin Role

Note: If you have student or instructor license (i.e. You have only one license), keep this setting as Product User.

Assigning Product to User / Member

You can give the Product Access to the user by marking tick . You can also see the available seats of the products. Press Add User button.

Success !!  You will get the message that User added Successfully.

You will see the added user now!

User will get an email from Trimble (noreply@trimblepass.com)

Note: If you are college / institute / university / ATC then note that the assigned user required to create Trimble Account, if not existing.

See the Assigned Products to you / user

To see the Products assigned to User –

  • Tell user to sign-in with Trimble Account
  • Go to My Products
  • User will see assigned product

Note: If you are student or instructor (i.e. You have only one license), it is not necessary sign-in again. You have been assigned product to yourself. Therefore directly go to My Products.

After expanding View Included Application, user/you will see all included applications.

Product User/you can download and install the required applications or Launch the cloud service directly.

Modifying the Product Access

Admin can change / modify user access any time.

By deselecting product, admin can revoke user product any time.

Deselect the product and press Save Product Access button.

Give the confirmation to Modify Access.

User/student will receive email from Trimble (noreply@trimblepass.com) saying that the Administrator has been Revoked your license.

Administrator can see the assigned products or status of any user/member. After revoking the product None will be appear in Product Access column.

Managing Role

The account owner / administrator can modify role of an user / member any time using the Change Role option.

If the role is changed to Company Admin, the user will get rights to manage users.

Removing User

Admin can remove user any time.

Confirmation is required to Removing User. After removing, the user will lose the product access after removing. (There will not be any impact on Trimble Account.)

Bulk Addition

If you want to assign number of user at a time, then you can add users in bulk using .csv file. You will get this tab in the  dropdown menu in Add New User.

Admin can add maximum 200 users at a time. CSV file format (template) is given for download.  Use the same template.

Upload the CSV file and assign role and product to all. Trimble will send the invitation to all users.

Manage Account

Admin or user can Manage Account or Apps by sign-in using sketchup.com website.
